Characteristics of betatron radiation in AWAKE Run 2 experiment

The oscillating relativistic electrons in the accelerating/focusing wakefields of plasma accelerators emit electromagnetic radiation known as betatron (BR). proton-driven wakefield acceleration has been demonstrated Advanced Wakefield Experiment (AWAKE) at CERN; however, its accompanying emission is less explored compared with those laser- and electron beam-driven accelerators. In this paper, a detailed simulation study BR AWAKE presented. Considering new set-up Run 2 (2021–), from both witness beam seeding investigated using particle-in-cell simulations. influence radial size mismatch misaligned off-axis injection on dynamics, well spectral features relevant are studied. These non-ideal injections likely to occur experiment. proton self-modulation stage also close look dynamics BR. As footprint emitting particles, can provide valuable information about dynamics. Some practical challenges implement diagnostic experiment addressed.
